Why should one write?
The all-imposing question that is always asked is why should a student constantly write? Is it not enough that he knows the English language well enough to hold a conversation and to read? The simple answer would be no, the longer answer would be the best way to communicate in the 21st century in an era. AI is so prevalent, writing is the only tool that can break or make your career.
Simply looking into the advent of AI in today’s world, simply to use it. One needs to know what particular prompt to put to get the desired response. Well, if you don’t know how to effectively communicate what you are trying to say into words, let’s just say you will run out of tokens on Claude.
Even if we look beyond artificial intelligence, in the professional environment using email and tools, like Microsoft Teams is the only way to effectively communicate in your workplace. Even if one has to put up group discussions or PPT or attend client conferences, unless there is a script of what is to be followed that is presented to both the clients and the audience, it will be meaningless.
So now that we have covered the two faces that are extremely important with the coming era, that is AI and the professional environment, why do we at the writing studio stress upon effective writing communication skills, right from the school?
The answer is simple. The more you hone a skill, the better you become at it. Not only does the curriculum in IB and IGCSE require effective written communication, but the world at large needs you to excel at it.
Which is why we are at the writing studio? Encourage students to write, and write some more. Not only does that effectively help you understand what you are trying to say in your mind into a written form, thereby structuring your thoughts, but it helps you convey what you are trying to say in a form that the other person can understand by a bare perusal of your document. Moreover, it’s not just about the marks that you will get when you write well, it’s about the skills that you’re taking that you will utilise throughout your life. It can never be too early to polish your skills for something that you will utilise throughout your professional life.
Which is why we at the writing studio deeply focus on the writing skills of our students. We make sure that your drafts are so well polished that they communicate exactly what you’re trying to say in a structured format. It puts forth your grammar and vocabulary in an eloquent form that it rivals that of your peers to set you apart. This is what we strive to do at the writing studio.
